FTC votes to smooth the way for speedier investigations
The US Federal Trade Commission has given itself the power to issue civil investigative demands (CIDs) for investigations into AI-powered products and services.
The power will be in place for ten years and aims to speed up investigations into AI-related fraud, deception, privacy infringements, and unfair practices.
The FTC is increasingly interested in AI and has launched a challenge to find ways to stop voice cloning scams using AI algorithms. [ more ]
